Annual Traditions
Founder’s Day
Come celebrate UVU’s birthday! Every September, Student Alumni celebrates UVU’s birthday with cake and ice cream. UVU patches are handed out to students and we sing “Happy Birthday” to celebrate another year providing opportunities in an ever-growing community.
Global Engagement Week
Enjoy a wide array of international experiences! Scheduled for November 15-19, Global Engagement Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of education. Enjoy crafts, ethnic food, cultural performances and the International Food Extravaganza where you can taste foods from a variety of cultures.
Halloween Dance
Dress up and come dance at Utah County’s biggest Halloween party! UVU’s Halloween Dance is attended by more than 4,000 people. The dance is put on by UVU Student Association, and great care and detail go into making sure this event is a success. The Events Center is the place to be on Halloween.
Network Night
Come network with Alumni and sharpen your professional skills. During each semester, Student Alumni hosts a dinner that allows you to network with professionals in the area. This dinner gives you a chance to learn about different opportunities and gain a mentor to help you through your school years.
Miss UVU
Join in the fun at the one and only Miss UVU Pageant! Miss UVU is a local pageant in the Miss America System. Miss UVU goes on to compete at Miss Utah and Miss Utah goes on to compete at Miss America, the largest sources of scholarships for women in America. Miss UVU receives $3000 in scholarships for the year, and each attendant receives $1500 in scholarships.
Mr. UVU
Get involved in Miss UVU’s more comical counterpart – Mr. UVU! The event is a fun-filled and hilarious evening of nonstop entertainment. Single men from across campus show their school spirit and compete for a cash prize and change to have their photo on the wall in the Student Center.
Polynesian Grand Luau
Legacy, a Polynesian dance team, offers culturally and authentically rich shows designed to allow people of all backgrounds to experience the rich and beautiful Polynesian culture. All are invited to come and enjoy the flavor of this unique night, which typically takes place in September.
Wolverine Wednesday
Wear green every Wednesday to show your school spirit! There are always different activities going on that allow you to demonstrate how much school spirit you have – everything from pie-eating contests to relay races and much more. Let everyone know you are proud to be a student at UVU!
Pancake Breakfast
Come enjoy an excellent breakfast at the Alumni Center! Every Wolverine Wednesday join in the fun, eating green pancakes and ice cream. Breakfast includes muffins, yogurt, fruit, juice, and of course, ice cream. Bring your friends weekly for the ultimate social breakfast experience of your life!
Giving of the Green
Make a difference on campus. Each year Student Alumni support the school’s initiatives by providing the opportunity for students to give of their green (donate) to make a difference on campus or in the community. www.uvualumni.org/givegreen
Ballroom Dance
Support the “Dancing with the Stars” champions! UVU has a world-renowned Ballroom Team that includes a touring team, a reserve team, and two backup teams. They have a concert at the end of each spring semester so don’t miss out on your opportunity to watch this world-famous team!
Burning of the UVU
Come ignite your school pride, literally, at the Burning of the UVU! This tradition takes place at the beginning of Homecoming week in the Courtyard. Bring you friends and take pictures as the giant UVU is set on fire!
On-Campus Debates
Attend a speech or debate! UVUSA works hard to bring speakers and debates to campus. Come expand your horizons and learn from the experiences of others by listening to one of several guest speakers.
Homecoming Dance
Dance the night away as you celebrate UVU’s Homecoming Week! No homecoming is complete without a dance. UVU’s Homecoming Dance is the perfect way to top off the week. Look for postings for the exact time and place.
Homecoming Game
Come cheer the Wolverines to victory in the Events Center! Wear green and experience the excitement of Wolverine basketball on our home court.
Intramurals
Join a team! The Intramurals Department is an important aspect of student life at UVU that provides various activities for the students, faculty and staff. They host activities such as flag football, basketball, 5k runs and many other events.
Outdoor Adventure Center Trips
Plan a trip and enjoy the great outdoors! If you enjoy a good adventure, seeing new places, experiencing different activities, then check out the Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC). They also provide rental equipment. Located in the Student Center next door to Scoops, OAC is sure to make your college experience thrilling and exciting.
Sub 4 Santa
Donate! Volunteer! Participate! Every year before the end of the fall semester, the Volunteer and Service Learning Center sets up various donation centers for Christmas donations. These donations help families provide Christmas for their children. They serve more than 100 families through this drive. Toys, clothing, and food donations are accepted to help those in need in the Utah County area.
Tailgate Parties
Support our athletes at a tailgate party! Before UVU sporting events, students rally to support student athletes at tailgate parties. Hot dogs, hamburgers and on occasion, J-dawgs are served before the game. Bring your friends and enjoy tailgating as you get ready to cheer on the UVU Wolverines.
Theater Productions
Spend an evening at the theater! The Department of Theatrical Arts offers the University and the Utah Valley community an active production program, including five to six major productions during the academic year as well as various Platform Series productions. Each production is well done and is an excellent source of entertainment.
Annual Events
Alumni Golf Classic
The Alumni Golf Classic is held every year in June. Sixty teams of four gather at Soldier Hollow golf course to raise money for student scholarships. While everyone’s a winner, whoever finishes with the lowest score has a scholarship named after them.
Auto Expo
The Auto Expo is held every May. It is Utah's second largest car show and the biggest swap meet in the West. It is held annually at Utah's Thanksgiving Point.
Blood Drives
Twice per semester, representatives from American Red Cross visit UVU to collect blood from donors.

Board of Trustees Awards Banquet
The Trustee Awards Banquet is held every year in April. This annual event is to recognize and honor outstanding performances by UVU faculty and staff.
Commencement
Commencement is held in April. It is a growing tradition at UVU with 56 degrees. Six schools host convocations for graduating students and their families.

Community Outreach Day/Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
To commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., hundreds of BYU and UVU students join together for one day each January to provide service to the community. Projects include Blood Drives, humanitarian outreach, and various projects for local community agencies.

Dan Peterson Spring Field Day
The Dan Peterson School in Alpine School District works with children with multiple disabilities. Every April the Student Service Council sponsors a Spring Field Day for the children of the Dan Peterson School.
Donor Appreciation Banquet
The Donor Appreciation Banquet is held every year in March. This annual banquet is to honor those who financially support UVU and its programs.
Food Drives
Each November the Volunteer & Service-Learning Center sponsors a food drive. All food donated benefits our Sub-For-Santa families.

Giving Tree
Every December the Center partners with the Heritage School. Heritage School students' wishes are placed on a tree and UVU students, faculty, and staff grant those Christmas wishes.
Hunger Banquet
The Hunger Banquet is an event that increases understanding of hunger in Utah and around the world. Participants gather for a unique meal and presentations on hunger and homelessness issues. All proceeds from this event benefit local agencies that address hunger and homelessness. The event always takes place during Homelessness Awareness week which is in November.
Make A Difference Day
Billed as a national day of service, Make a Difference Day is held every October. Every year, student volunteers gather to complete a large community service project for a non-profit agency in Utah County.
President's Cup Golf Invitational
The President's Cup Golf Invitational is held every year in October. About 140 golfers gather at Thanksgiving Point to raise money for student internship program. Prizes are awarded to the winners.
President's Scholarship Ball
The President's Scholarship Ball is held every year in October. The cost is $150 per plate, and the event typically sells out every year. The food is catered by UVU's culinary art students. All the proceeds go to support presidential scholarships.
Summer University
Summer University is a staff and faculty development conference held every May on the UVU campus. Several keynote speakers present, and breakout sessions are held for instruction. There are also conference celebrations before and after.
Wolverine Golf Classic
The Wolverine Golf Classic is held every year in August. Thirty-six foursomes come to Talons Cove Golf Course in Saratoga Springs, Utah. All of the money raised goes toward to the student athlete scholarship fund. Prizes are given for first, second and third place teams, as well as door prizes and gift bags.
