Professional Pages

General Information

The Professional Page system is a wonderful system that allows all full-time employees to have a page on the UVU web site that promotes them as an employee of UVU. This page is to be used to present professional information about each UVU team member in a consistent and unified manner. Please keep all information on these pages to information relative to your employment at UVU.

  • Your contact information at UVU
  • Your picture
  • Your office location
  • Your office hours
  • Your vitae
  • Links to course materials (all course materials need to be in WebCT)
  • Your Resume information

Information not appropriate on the Professional Pages (not a complete list)
  • Pictures of your family
  • Description of vacations and family outings
  • Personal Business information
  • Copyrighted materials
  • Personal projects you are working on

If you would like to put personal information on the web, please contact UVSCNet for options or find an off campus site to host that information.

How to Login

Go to http://www.uvsc.edu/profpages/ to access your page.

  1. Go to the Profpage system
  2. Click on your name in the Directory listing
  3. Click on the Last Updated link on your page and you will be prompted for a UV ID and password.
    Enter in your UV ID and password. If you have any questions about your UV ID or password, contact the helpdesk at ext. 8888.
  4. Once you are logged in to WebCentral, click on the link that says Professional Homepage.
  5. Now you can see your page in the Edit mode.

How Do I Edit My Page and Information
  1. Name Preferences: Your Official Name is obtained from Human Resources and cannot be edited here (To change your official name, please contact Human Resources). Use Official Name is selected by default. If you want a different name to show up on your page, type your name into the Display Name field EXACTLY the way you wish it to be viewed and select Use Display Name. Then click the Update Name Preferences button.
  2. Email Preferences: Your Official Email is your Groupwise employee email account. This will be displayed on the public website by default. If you wish to have an alternative email on your Professional Page, type your email address into the Display Email field, select Use Display Email and click the Update Email Preferences button.
  3. Contact Information: You can edit your Office Location, Mail Code, Phone, and Fax by filling out the form and then clicking on the Update Contact Info button. Note that UserName cannot be edited.Your UserName can be used to directly access your ProfPage. The shortcut is http://www.uvsc.edu/profpages/UserName (UserName from your Contact Information). This standardized shortcut to your Professional Homepage can be put on a business card or given out to individuals.
  4. You can view the changes you have made to your page by clicking on the View Your Page button. This will open a new web browser window to view your page. When you want to return to the editing window, just tab between windows or close the View window to return to the Edit window.
  5. You can upload a picture of yourself to be displayed on your page. To do this click the Picture Options/Upload link. Please follow the directions on this page and remember:
    1. Only one picture can be uploaded at a time. If you upload a second picture of yourself, it will automatically overwrite the previous one.
    2. The picture must be in a jpg or jpeg format. To help your page to load as quickly as possible for your users, please make sure your picture is web ready. If you need help doing this, please contact WDS (ext. 7975).
    3. Make sure to check the box authorizing your picture to be displayed on this page. Without this box checked, your picture will NOT be displayed.
  6. You can make one PDF document available to download from your page. To do this, click on the PDF Options/Upload link. Please follow the directions on this page and keep in mind:
    1. Only one PDF document can be uploaded at a time. If you upload a second PDF document, it will automatically overwrite the previous one.
    2. Input a Title for your document to be displayed on your page EXACTLY as you want it to appear on the page.
  7. You can change your page layout by clicking the Change Page Layout link and choosing one of three layout templates.
  8. You can choose the department you are assigned to by clicking on the Your Department Options link. In the new page select your department from the drop-down list and click the Change Your Department button.
  9. You can post your schedule on your ProfPage. Click on the Your Schedule link to open the Current Schedule Page. Here a weekly calendar is displayed, and you can add events with the Add New Event link. When you are finished making changes, click Back to Your Professional Homepage to return.
  10. You can add additional information by clicking on the Edit Custom Information button. Use the text editor to add content, notices or other appropriate information. You can change the layout, font, color, etc. of the text and make it look the way you want it to. Feel free to experiment: the editor is very flexible and should accommodate most any appropriate content you wish to add.
