UVWac Sub-committees

Sub-committee membership

There are also five sub-committees to UVWAC which are recommending bodies. These include:

  1. Strategic Web Action Team (Rasmussen),
  2. Marketing sub-committee (Arendt - WRS),
  3. Policy sub-committee (Walker),
  4. Technical sub-committee (Gerber - WDS), and
  5. Academic sub-committee (Bartholemew)

Review of WAC Sub-Committee missions:

SWAT Sub-Committee:

The SWAT Sub-Committee will be a standing committee of UVWAC and will act as an “Action Team” for changes which need to be made on the look and feel of the web. They will also address all web-related concerns as assigned and prioritized by UVWAC. This committee’s membership changes depending on what areas of the web are being worked on. There will be permanent members from Marketing, IT, Web Development Services, Web Resource Services, Academics, Student Services.

Academic Sub-Committee:

The Academic Sub-Committee will be a standing committee of UVWAC which will act as a recommending body of faculty and others who have interests in academic issues related to the web. Their responsibility is to address web-related academic concerns as assigned by UVWAC and also raised web-related needs and proposals related to academic areas such as: departmental web sites, academic programs, curriculum/catalog, research, course resources, faculty needs, learning management systems, student work, etc. This committee will meet regularly and will forward any recommendations or action items to UVWAC through the committee chair for ratification. The implementation of any decisions proposed by this committee will have to be coordinated through the UVWAC.

Marketing Sub-Committee:

The Marketing Sub-Committee is a recommending group of web technology specialists across the UVU campus that works with the marketing, design, and usability of the UVU web system. Their responsibility is to maintain positive and effective audience experiences for our users, along with assurance of accurate, timely, and relevant content. We will meet regularly and make decisions on these topics relating to all our efforts at UVU. All decisions made by this Sub-Committee will be forwarded through the UVWAC for ratification. The committee only has the recommending ability on topics and solutions. The implementation of those decisions will have to be coordinated through the UVWAC.

Meeting times: Thursdays from 10 to 11 in Advancement (usually AB 111)

Technology Sub-Committee:

The Technology Sub-Committee is a recommending group of web technology specialists across the UVU campus that work with the technology and programming languages behind the UVU web system. Their responsibility is to oversee all the web server technology, system applications, CMS solutions, server-side scripting efforts, and any database-driven issues regarding the web systems. We will meet regularly and make decisions on these topics relating to all our efforts at UVU. All decisions made by this Sub-Committee will be forwarded through the UVWAC for ratification. Since the Technology Sub-Committee will have members of departments across campus, the committee only has the recommending ability on topics and solutions. The implementation of those decisions will have to be coordinated through the UVWAC.

Policy Sub-Committee:

The UVWAC Policy Sub-Committee is a standing committee of UVWAC. It is charged with developing, reviewing, and writing web policies and policies that affect UVU’s web presence and governance at the direction of UVWAC. Policies and recommendations developed by the sub-committee will be reviewed by UVWAC and its sub-committees and voted on by UVWAC. Policies that are approved by UVWAC will be sent to president’s council for review and then sent through the policy process.
