Women in Technology

ABOUT US

Women in Technology/WIT is a student organization that operates under the direction of Career and Technical Education at Utah Valley University. The purpose of this organization is to inform women of the opportunities available in non-traditional technical and vocational occupations. Our goal is to integrate women into the full range of technological careers in which they are underrepresented. Our second goal is to serve as a support system for women training to enter careers in technology by providing positive role models, mentorship’s, career development, internships, networking opportunities and friendly support.

In today's world, technical training can lead to careers in high-paying in-demand and satisfying careers. Women in Technology encourages women to consider a wider variety of higher-paying nontraditional careers, defined as occupations where one gender comprises less than 25% of the individuals employed. Many students graduate to a job and careers in these areas start at $15-20/hour with opportunities for even higher earnings.

As students explore a variety of options, they are able to make career choices based on abilities and interests, rather than circumstances and stereotypes-to be serious about a career path and development of talents and abilities through the life span regardless of gender.
