Kara North, is a senior Business Management major.
During the 2005-2006 school year she was awarded the School of Business Dean's Merit Scholarship as well as The Female in Business Scholarship from Enterprise Rent-A-Car for a management presentation she gave to board members from their company. Kara competed as a member of the Business-Ethics Competition Team that placed 5th nationally in Los Angeles this past April. She is currently a work-study student for Professor Hugh Rode in the Legal Studies Department.
Having studied the violin for 20 years, Kara has put that talent to good use here on campus. She is a member of the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, a featured soloist with UVSC's Symphony Orchestra on their concerto night and was the musical soloist at the 2006 School of Business Commencement Ceremony. Her abilities with the violin have made her the recipient of the Francis J. Kennedy Music Scholarship as well as an Exceptional Performance Scholarship from the School of Music.
Kara served as Miss Orem 2003-2004, and during which she volunteered over 200 hours of service to Project Read, an adult literacy organization. She was also responsible for assembling 2000 kits for Governor Olene Walker's Commission on Literacy as well as partnering with Scholastic Books, Volunteers of America, and the UVU Athletic Department in sponsoring "Read with a Queen and a Wolverine" at the Orem Public Library where over 400 children from Orem received new books. She was recognized for this service with a Presidential Student Community Service Award and the Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Community Service Award.
Kara will graduate with her Bachelor of Science in Business Management in April of 2007, upon which she plans to enter Law School.
