The Community Writing Center (CWC) is a free, writing-coach resource established in the Orem Public Library. The CWC aims to service the civic and professional needs of writers throughout Utah Valley with face-to-face coaching, composition workshops, handouts, and generalized writing practice.
Community workshops, presented by UVU tutors and staff, provide exposure to and practice with a variety of writing and composition principles. From the finer points of drafting a resume cover letter to techniques for organizing a business proposal, community members can engage collaboratively with tutors and peers on specific writing topics.
UVU tutors and staff provide personalized, face-to-face tutorials for Utah Valley community members. Coaching sessions emphasize a peer-tutoring process wherein students and coaches work collaboratively to address writing concerns and practices. While Community Writing Center coaches can assist with writing of any genre, they specialize in professional (resume's, cover letters, etc.) and civic (letters to government agencies, community projects, etc.) writing.
To schedule an appointment with the Community Writing Center, log into MyWCOnline, and click the drop down at the top (that starts with Main Center LI 208 Fall 2014) and change it to Community Writing Center Fall 2014.
Anyone interested in improving their writing skills or improving their written work. University students are encouraged to attend the UVU Writing Center on campus and leave CWC hours of operation available to community members.
