The Utah Valley University (UVU) Pedestrian Bridge is open for public use.
The bridge opened on February 1, 2021.
About the UVU Pedestrian Bridge
The UVU Pedestrian Bridge provides access between the Intermodal Center in Orem and the UVU campus. The bridge spans almost 1,000 feet across I-15 and is 15 feet wide. Elevators on each side of the bridge will accommodate pedestrians,
bikes, and scooters. The $30.7 million bridge project dramatically improves safety for pedestrians and decreases congestion on nearby streets. It makes transit, biking and walking more appealing to university students, staff, and visitors while improving the integrated transportation system in central Utah
County.
Agency Partnership
This project was a collaborative effort between the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), UVU, and the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) to fund and build a multi-modal bridge across I-15 providing a safe, direct route
for students and faculty traveling back and forth from housing and the Orem Intermodal
Center to campus. The City of Orem and the Mountainland Association of Governments were key partners in the concept, study, and design phases of the bridge.
