Past Foundation Chair - Neal Savage

Foundation Board Chair 1990-1992

Neal Savage served as the second chair of the UVU Foundation, furthering the work begun by Bill Anderson in the Foundation’s first decade. During his time as chair, the Utah System of Higher Education and the Board of Regents proposed an initial offering of four-year degrees at what was then Utah Valley Community College. Under President Kerry Romesburg, the college began offering four-year degrees in business management, computer science and information systems, and technology management.

Savage built an international materials management and transportation business out of his family’s small trucking business. He served as mayor of American Fork and on numerous civic, government, and educational boards. He was also a bishop and stake president for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He passed away in 2013.

“Neal had such a generous heart,” said Bill Anderson. “He was incredibly busy running an international business, but he never lost the good old Utah Valley courtesy and willingness to pitch in and help. He was a world-class gentleman.”
