This is an estimate for the Full Undergraduate R401 template. All other templates MAY be able to make an earlier SBR meeting.

* Final submission means that ALL approvals are met both for R401(Library, AQA, Budget, Edits) and for COMET. Please contact Sabine Berlin (ex8270) if you have any questions.

Dates in black are scheduled meetings. Dates in red are tentative. Dates in () are due dates for items to be on the agenda.

**Graduate programs require an extra step for graduate council review.

***BOT may hold preview meetings in certain months to accommodate SBR submission dates.

****The following items do NOT need NWCCU approval: CP, Minor, Emphases, Centers, Dept Name Changes. These items are fully approved upon SBR approval.

  1. R401s are submitted to AAC following UCC approval. These are submitted directly to the Office of Academic Affairs by the Office of Academic Quality Assurance with the relevant dean copied in.
  2. Summer UCC meetings may be scheduled as needed to allow items to be submitted to additional SBR meetings (September, November).
  3. AAC prioritizes programs by reviewing the majority of feasibility studies in Spring (May 1, 2017, for 2019 start dates) so that programs can move through the approval process in the summer/fall.
  4. The OCHE offers fast track approvals for certificates of proficiency and completion. OCHE staff reviews these in 15 days. They do not go out for external review or to the CAOs. They are then scheduled for the next Regent’s general consent calendar. This may or may not shorten the process depending on when the item is approved – e.g. if an item is approved in August, it would be in time for the SBR September 15th agenda, but if it is submitted to the OCHE in September, the next SBR meeting would be November.
  5. New programs can begin as they are approved as long as this is six weeks prior to registration for the semester of implementation. Contact Sabine Berlin to verify if your program qualifies. See http://www.uvu.edu/registration/ for registration dates. Generally, fall registration begins in early April; spring registration in late October. In cases where new programs involve new courses and/or no changes to existing courses, it may be possible to implement them in the spring semester. If a new program begins in spring, the catalog year for the program will be the prior fall (e.g., students begin the program Spring 2017; catalog year is Fall 2016.)
  6. It may be possible to expedite NWCCU approval. Expedited review takes 30-60 days and involves a $1,000 fee, paid by the college/school. This can be coordinated through the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. According to new NWCCU guidelines, some programs may only be consent items. Please contact Sabine Berlin to see if your program qualifies.
  7. Please note that delays in the curriculum process can occur at any stage in the process; careful document preparation and timely response to feedback will support timely approval.
