The British Are Coming

You’d be a plonker if you didn’t settle in to watch the percussion ensemble British Invasion concert featuring music of British composers, bands, and films. It’ll make you want to twist and shout!

Every year, UVU chooses a location to celebrate and explore through their Global Spotlight program. This year, they’re diving deep into the United Kingdom, and so is UVU Percussion.

The lineup includes The Beatles, naturally, as well as Purcell, Grainger and Holst’s Mars - which influenced John Williams in his original Star Wars score. All of these composers are from the UK - and represent a wide span of the region’s longtime contribution to music.

The intent of the Global Spotlight is to “trigger global and intercultural engagement across campus and within the community.” Workshops, conferences, demonstrations, ceremonies, discussion panels, faculty exchanges and lectures are some of the ways the Office for Global Engagement promotes its chosen region.

We’d be chuffed if you came round to see us!
