UVU Music Faculty Present the Fifth Annual “String Sensation” Show

Utah Valley University’s Department of Music proudly presents its fifth annual faculty string show. String Sensation will be performed free of charge on October 23rd at 7:30 PM in the Science Building Auditorium.

String Sensation has been a staple of the fall music line up since 2013 when it was first presented. Music faculty come together in a collaborative effort to create a beautiful production that features various instrumental talents. Not only are orchestral faculty involved, but faculty artists playing the piano, oboe, and clarinet will also be playing.

Dr. Donna Fairbanks, violinist and music department chair, will be performing in this production. Donna Fairbanks received a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance from the University of Arizona, a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music from Brigham Young University, with additional conservatory studies at the University of Missouri Kansas City and the University of Cincinnati.

She has given solo performances with several orchestras including the Orquestra Sinfônica de Londrina (Brazil), Utah Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Sun Valley Festival Orchestra, Utah Valley Symphony, as well as numerous collegiate and youth orchestras.

When asked what the public can expect from this show, Fairbanks said, “The public can expect chamber music performances of the highest quality.” In addition to hearing the high caliber performances of our world class faculty members like Dr. Fairbanks, audience members will become better acquainted with the music department faculty.” It should be noted that this event is produced and presented by faculty, with no student involvement.

As String Sensation enters its fifth year of performance, we encourage audiences to attend this free show on October 23rd at 7:30 PM in the Science Building Atrium.
