AMWI Piano Festival

The American Mountain West International Piano Festival is a unique, international piano festival taking place on the campus of Utah Valley University.  Join a cohort of 15 students from China in a supportive musical learning environment! Classes are designed for every level, from beginning to advanced. The festival is a fun way to end the summer- meeting students from around the globe and experiencing world-class music instruction. Participants are invited but not required to perform in the Final Recital on Thursday, August 16.

Final Recital (Solo, Duet, and Choir): Thursday, August 16, 5pm

Daily Schedule: 10am-3pm

10 am: Music and Rhythm Class

11:20: Duet Coaching and Masterclass (duet repertoire will be emailed after registration)

1:00: Sight-reading Class

2:00: Choir

AMWI Piano Competition

The American West International Piano Competition invites you to participate in a rich musical experience right here in Utah County! We aim to provide a supportive, meaningful, and friendly competition that encourages musical development in an international setting. The event is held in conjunction with the American West International Piano Festival, but non-festival students are warmly invited to participate in the solo competition.

The Competition takes place over two days: August 13- 14

$15 per entry

    • Senior, Adult: $50

Young Elementary Division (3 minutes) 9 and under

Elementary Division (4 minutes) 10-12 years old

Junior Division (6 minutes) 13-15 years old

Monday, Aug 13 6pm, UVU GT 507

Senior Division (8 minutes) 16-18 years old

Adult Division (8 minutes) Over 18

Concerto Division

(Limited to any Haydn, Mozart, or Chopin Concerto movement)

Monday, Aug 13 6:00pm-9:00pm, UVU GT 507

Concerto Division participants must also be enrolled in the Piano Festival and sign a commitment letter to perform in China.  Letters will be signed on the day of the competition.

Four Winners will be selected, and two Grand Prize Winners will perform with the South China GHM Symphony Orchestra in January 2019. Grand Prize Winners are responsible for their own transportation to China for the recital.
