BI Finance using Evisions/ARGOS
Goal
Right information to the right people at the right time, financial information to support budget manager decision-making, leverage ODS/EDW.
Tasks
- Successfully implement and launch 3-5 key reports/visualizations as part of ARGOS implementation engagement
- Optimize data architecture with ODS/EDW
- Validate data against current reports
- Use/expand data cookbook
- Review business processes & adapt (i.e., monthly cycles)
- Information to include drill down capability
- Assure information available to right people at right time in right format through a variety of communications channels (mobile, e-mail, triggers, web portal)
- Implement web portal (multi-use/purpose for future needs)
- Identify responsible steward/team for continued implementation of additional reports/visualizations including procurement, labor, trends, etc.

ODS Consolidation
Goal
Build trust (one version of the truth), reduce workload (systems & people), leverage for EDW use.
Tasks
- Move from ODS8 to UVU ODS
- Notes:
- *ETL & Reporting objects on UVUODS. Use UVUODS only. Only WebFOCUS User and Report catalog/repository is still on UVUODS8. Discussion must follow on migrating WebFOCUS reports to Argos and determine date when WebFOCUS can be turned off. (CC) *IRI using UVUODS, discovered some errors,sent for correction. Continuing our validation of UVUODS with ODS8, testing for another month. (RL)

Goal

- *EDW training/help address issues have. Working on gap analysis of ODS to EDW, what data elements missing? See Tab "Conversion of ODS8 update" (CM&DV) *Behind in 3rd week conversion to EDW, in process of determining if star report content is complete, defined several missing dimensions for state & internal reporting. Work with Consultant helpful (conclude end of March), then decisions & gaps implemented & filled. May be more practical to use EDW for Fall EOT reporting than 3rd week given where we are in implementation and testing of EDW. (RL)

Goal

- *Received WebEx from Ellucian in Dec. 2014. Need to review documentation & to determine to go forward with it and to receive training from Ellucian on SRP/RAP. Need to follow up with stake holders Brett Tolman, Marcy Glassford, and etc (Ray was in contact)(CM) *After 1st EDW training, Student module reps and IRI met (2/17) to discuss first stages of star implementation, identifying gaps between existing stars and needs for operational AND official reporting. I would change first task due date to March given EDW training timeline. (LB) *Attended deom on topic. Other steps to be taken. Discussed some implications with Admissions. (RL)

Develop security/access strategy
Goal
Facilitate reporting access, provide the right people with the right information at the right time.

- Assess current security access by type (role-based, fund/org) and across various "sign-on"
platforms (Tableau, Insight, TIMS, etc.)
- Notes:
- *Banner security team met in regards to setting up role-based security settings within Argos, Finance Dept. is currently in set up and testing phase. Other Data Stewards are currently defining their individual Users and Roles to be established in Argos. I think one of the goals is to transition these similar setups and settings for all Departments with Argos and when it is time to implement the Tableau Server and other reporting tools. (SP) *UVU Banner Security Team identified groups/roles for each area that can be automatically populated using ODS or other data to identify members. Chris Jones implementing. Security team members who have report development responsibilities will be responsible to create/maintain groups that cannot be populated automatically. (LB)

Tableau Server
Goal
Optimize existing resources, reduce workload, facilitate reporting access, provide the right people with the right information at the right time.
Tasks
- Conduct thorough review of pros/cons of continuing with UEN, continuing with UEN but
implementing a UVU Server, or discontinuing with UEN and implementing a UVU Server;
decision should have a three-year minimum lifespan; identify resources needed

- *Purchasing Tableau Server. Will solve several concerns the Security team had regarding the shared UEN Server. (SP) *Ray, Laura, Robert, and Geoff met before 2014 year-end to discuss, and determined PBA request for Server and for an IT admin position to support BI systems and development tools. PBA request allocation was done 10/21/2014 for both the Server licensing and the staff position. (LB) *Complete. Waiting for system admin to be hired to install Tableau. Tableau has been purchased.
