This page highlights some of the accomplishments of our staff and the Center for Constitutional Studies as a whole.
Perspectives on Political Science

In September of 2016, the Center for Constitutional Studies held a conference to evaluate
and honor Justice Scalia’s legacy on the Supreme Court. A number of the speakers at
that conference wanted to extend their reflections, and this resulted in the essays
featured in the journal, “Perspectives on Political Science.” The online versions
of these essays were recently published. The links can be found below:

Statement on the Quill Project

On June 6, 2018, Dr. Rodney K. Smith published an article focusing on The Quill Project and how it brings the true intent of the Constitution to light. His article expressed the concern of how little Americans know about the Constitution and followed that concern with a solution.
President Trump's Tariffs

On March 22, 2018, former Congressman and current professor of political science at Utah Valley University, Ernest Istook, wrote a commentary on Congress's complaints against President Trump's tariffs.
Tale of Two Constitutions

On September 18, 2017, Associate Director Andrew Bibby, represented the Center by participating in the event, Tale of Two Constitutions, where he joined other scholars in discussing the revolutions and constitutions of France and America, and their influence on one another. Dr. Andrew Bibby spoke at the second panel entitled, Montesquieu, the French Enlightenment, and American Constitutional Thought.
Interview with Rod Arquette
On August 29, 2017, Director Rodney Smith was interviewed on the Rod Arquette radio show. On the show, the two discussed the recent op-ed that Smith co-authored with a previous Wood Assistant, Josman Cereceres, entitled Follow the Framers of the Constitution.
Follow the Framers of the Constitution

On August 28, 2017, Director Rodney K. Smith and previous Wood Assistant Josman Cereceres published an article in the Deseret News entitled Follow the Framers of the Constitution. The op-ed addresses term limits in Congress and the dialogue surrounding the issue.
