Utah Fire and Rescue Academy Named Best of State

The Utah Fire and Rescue Academy has won “The Best of State Award in the Public Safety category. The Utah Fire and Rescue Academy (UFRA) is housed in the School of Public Services and is a part of the College of Technology and Computing at Utah Valley University.

The Best of State Awards recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in the state of Utah.

“This is a tremendous honor for all the hard working folks who labor so diligently at UFRA,” said Jeff Maxfield, Assistant Dean of UVU’s College of Technology and Computing. “We are certainly proud of their efforts and it’s nice to see them get this recognition.”

Winners in each Best of State category are awarded the prestigious Best of State Medal. The Medallion is two-inches in diameter, minted bronze, gold-plated and engraved. The medal is suspended from a double-woven, gold-trimmed Best of State ribbon. Winners receive the right to display and use the Best of State medallion image on business correspondence, their website, and other promotional materials for the twelve months following receipt of the award. Hugh Conner, Director of UFRA has asked Andrea Hossley to accept the award on behalf of the Academy. “She had so much to do with UFRA winning this,” said Conner, “it only seems right that she should be the one up on stage representing us.”
