What are SAC grants for?
Scholarly activities that promote student success, provide engaged learning, increase visibility, promote collaboration amongst CHPS departments, and support UVU action commitments and objectives. SAC grants can fund:
How are SAC grant applications scored?
The SAC committee (comprised of representatives from each department in CHPS, as well as representatives from the dean’s office) prioritizes applications based on merit, investment, and availability of resources.

What is the maximum I could be awarded? When is the deadline to apply?
Faculty SAC Grants
The open application period is any time between July and May. Awards are rarely more than $3,500. The committee will review SAC Grants once monthly.
Student SAC Grants
The student application period is any time between July and May. Student awards are typically capped at $1,500 per student.
I am a faculty member attending a professional conference, should I apply for a SAC grant?
SAC may help pay for a faculty member to attend a professional conference. The faculty member must first utilize the departmental travel allowance.
I am a student attending a professional conference, should I apply for a SAC grant?
SAC may help pay for students to attend a professional conference so long as the students are presenting their own work or competing in an event.
I am a student who is enrolled less than half time and I am involved in a scholarly activity, should I apply for a SAC grant? Or I am a student who is graduating soon and I am involved in a scholarly activity that occurs after I graduate, should I apply for a SAC grant?
To be eligible for a Student SAC grant, students must meet one of the following criteria:
At the time of application be enrolled at UVU at least half time in courses leading to a CHPS undergraduate or graduate certificate or degree, or
Conduct the proposed activities while enrolled at UVU at least half time in courses.
I am a student who is a part of a group scholarly activity, should the group submit one SAC application or should we all apply separately?
Students may apply together with one student acting as the "lead" applicant provided
Each student listed in the application is requesting $100 or less
The total requested per application is $1,500 or less
Otherwise, students must apply for their own SAC grant.

Does my budget need to be detailed?
Yes, please provide a budget that is complete and accurate. All budget itemizations should be linked to specific activities or initiatives. Please list any other sources and the amount of funding for this project you have been awarded or have received commitment for. (Please note that priority may be given to projects that receive or seek funding from sources other than SAC).

Enter $3,400 per 3-credit class. Note that any reassigned time to drop your ICHE below 12 credit hours will need to be entered as ACHE on your workload report. If you are not requesting release time to drop your ICHE below 12 credit hours, just leave the reassigned time portion of the table blank.
