Letter from the Dean

Dean Steven Clark Applauding at Graduation

Dear Graduates of the Class of 2021,

This year we celebrate, for the second time, a socially distanced commencement and convocation. Once again, I will miss not being able to shake hands with and personally congratulate every graduate of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Still, I hope that you’ll enjoy the drive-through commencement and convocation and use that time to celebrate this transition from Utah Valley University to a new chapter in your life.

Your personal journey over the last year has no doubt been filled with surprises, challenges, and hopefully, some very rewarding moments. Thanks to your hard work and grit, you have successfully completed your education here at UVU. You know, better than anyone else, the sacrifices you have made along the way. I hope that you have had a rich network of family, friends, faculty, and staff who have supported you throughout your journey. Be sure to thank those who have helped you along the way.

Celebrate. Stay in touch. And most all, congratulations, graduates of 2021!

Masters Programs

Master of Social Work

You have moved from being a scholar in the MSW program, to now a graduate from an MSW program. It may be intimidating or even scary to move out of your student phase, and into your full-time profressional phase. But, we believe in you, you can do this, and we know you're going to do great things.

We're so proud of you, congratulations graudates. Good luck!

--Elijah Nielson, MSW Program Director

Master of Family Therapy

I am so proud of how you have mastered the difficulties of learning and providing therapy during a pandemic.  You have Mastered the content of the program and prevailed against the challenges of 2020, and the challenges of a new program.  I hope when you look back on what you’ve accomplished, you feel immense pride.

Congratulations class of 2021!

--Elizabeth Fawcett, MFT Program Director
