Application Process

Before applying to the UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program:

1Apply to Utah Valley University

Acceptance to UVU is required prior to submitting an application to the UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program. This includes transferring all credits from other institutions to UVU. Once UVU receives your transcripts, the transfer credit office will take 2-4 weeks to process the transcripts. Application to the University can be done online at the UVU admissions page. The cost to apply to UVU is $35 for US nationals and $115 for international students. All UVU deadlines and fees apply. Students are encouraged to apply to UVU early (by February 6th or June 2nd for late applicants) so all transfer credits can be evaluated before the UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program application deadlines. In order to graduate from UVU upon completion of the UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program, students will be required to meet all UVU graduation requirements. This includes completing a minimum of 54 credits outside of the program. These courses may have been taken at UVU or another qualifying institution. Although not all the required credits have to be complete at the time of admissions, all 54 credits should be complete prior to starting the program. Students that have not completed the 54 credits prior to starting the program may be admitted if they will have met the 54 credit hour requirement upon completion of waived prerequisites explained in the section below. Accepted transfer credits are subject to UVU’s admission process.

2Prerequisite Course Work

It is your responsibility to ensure all program course prerequisite information has been submitted with your UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program application by the deadline in order for your application to be considered complete. Prior to admission into the program, you should complete, or be enrolled in, all required general elective (GE) courses that are not completed as part of the program. These include:

  • English 1010
  • English 2010
  • Quantitative Literacy
  • PHIL 2050
  • HLTH 1100 or PES 1097
  • American Institutions
  • Biology Course
  • Physical Science (PS) Course
  • 2nd Biology or PS Course
  • Humanities
  • Fine Arts
  • Economic

In addition to the general education requirement, the following Woodbury School of Business (WSB) or other course equivalents must be taken prior to admission.

  • MKTG 2390
  • IM 2010 or IM 2600 or My Educator

Students missing up to 6 GE or WSB program prerequisite courses may be eligible to complete missing coursework during the program. The number of acceptable waived credits is dependent upon other completed coursework. Interested students in waiving prerequisites should talk to a UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program advisor and apply for a waiver prior to submitting the application.

3Transfering Credits to UVU

It is your responsibility to have official transcripts of all previous college coursework sent to the UVU Admissions Office far enough in advance for UVU to process the transcripts, once again, this takes 2-4 weeks. Transfer courses must be evaluated and posted on your UVU Academic Record by the UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program application deadline. Please plan accordingly. Transfer credits are evaluated only by the UVU Transfer Credit Office, not by the UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program.

Transferring a previous AA, AS, BA, or BS degree may fill some UVU general education requirements. After transcripts and degrees have been evaluated, students can check Wolverine Track to see their graduation status and remaining requirements.

4Resume

All applicants must submit an updated resume that contains, at minimum, a detailed description of any applicant work experience over the past 5 years. Resumes will be used in the admissions process. Resumes will also be provided to UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program industry partners to determine employment and tuition reimbursement eligibility. This link provides resume writing tips that can be instrumental in obtaining competitive job offers from industry partners.

5International Students Only

Due to the work requirement of the program, international students may work for a hotel partner throughout the course of the program. To ensure eligibility for curricular practical training (CPT) international students applying to this program must:

  • Complete at least one year of studying in the US prior to entering into the program
  • Be enrolled full-time the two semesters prior to starting spring semester. If entering with the fall cohort, this means international students will need to be enrolled in live, full-time courses at an approved US educational institution over the previous summer.
  • Complete of an associates degree prior to entering the program. This is intended to reset the allowed amount of full-time CPT prior to graduation thus ensuring a year of optional practical training (OPT) is still available to program graduates.
6Submit the UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program Application

Before submitting your UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program application, ensure you have completed the following by the application deadline.

  • Completed or are enrolled in at least 52 semester hours prior to starting the program to satisfy the graduation requirement upon completion of the program. Waived prerequisite courses may reduce the semester hour requirement; see section 2 above for more details.
  • Be accepted to UVU and have a UVU ID number issued.
  • Complete the required prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of C- in the WSB prerequisites. If a maximum of 6 courses are not complete going into the program, create a plan with your advisor to complete the courses during the program and submit the required waiver.
  • Through the UVU Admissions Office, ensure official transcripts of all previous college courses were posted to your UVU Academic Record.
  • Submit an up-to-date resume that contains, at minimum, a detailed description of any applicant work experience over the past 5 years.
  • Submit the required UVU Wasatch Resort Management (WARM) Program application.
