How concurrent enrollment courses will be offered in Fall 2020

The traditional classroom setting is tricky with the safety rules and guidelines for health protection during a pandemic. Regardless, concurrent enrollment courses will be offered during the 2020-2021 school year.

Most classes will be offered in one of the following methods:

Face-to-Face

Student taking notes in class

Your class or lab is held live in a high school classroom on specific days and times. Most students in face-to-face classes will rotate between being in the classroom and participating through video conferencing software.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Face-to-face concurrent enrollment courses have not been approved to be fully online. Therefore, please check with the course's instructor if the course is available for students who select either a hybrid or fully online schooling delivery option.
  • Courses with a required lab might not be eligible for college credit if a student chooses a fully online high school schedule
  • The credit/no credit grading option will not be available

Live Interactive

Student attending a live streamed class from home
Your class is held live, but you join from home (or anywhere else!) on your computer or device. You will participate in class sessions on specific days and times and be able to interact with the instructor and others on camera.

  1. IN HIGH SCHOOL CLASSROOM - REAL TIME: Some students will be in a high school live interactive classroom attending the lecture in person.
  2. VIDEO CONFERENCE SOFTWARE - REAL TIME: Some students will not feel comfortable attending class in person and, instead, will be viewing the class through video conferencing software (Webex).  Like Zoom, Webex allows students to participate in discussions and ask questions, but the broadcast remains a closed environment with security for all attending the class.
  3. RECORDED LECTURE: Some students will not be able attend class in person or via Webex because of rotating high school schedules; therefore, the recorded lecture will be uploaded to Canvas and viewable at a different time more convenient for the student.

Live Interactive Instructors

  • How live interactive courses will be conducted:
    • Modality #1 (Synchronous): Some students will be in a classroom with the UEN equipment attending your lecture in person.  To clarify, these students will either be in a high school classroom, at a UVU distance learning site, or in the main classroom with the instructor using the normal UEN equipment for Live Interactive classes, as well as implementing the social distancing requirements from UVU
    • Modality #2 (Synchronous): Some students will not feel comfortable attending class in person and, instead, will be viewing the class via WEBEX software, which links into the UEN system.  Like Zoom and Teams, Webex allows students to participate in discussions and ask questions, but the broadcast remains a closed environment with security for all attending the class
    • Modality #3 (Asynchronous):  Some students will not be able attend class in person or via Webex because of rotating schedules; therefore, the recorded lecture will be uploaded to Canvas and viewable at a different time more convenient for the student
