Utah Valley University would like to invite you and your students to spend Friday, November 20, 2015 discovering the vast array of dance and dance education opportunities our program has to offer and to kick off the opening of our brand new facilities. UVU Department of Dance is proud of our 4 baccalaureate degrees in dance:
Additionally, we offer the two-year AS in Dance. The focus of the workshop this year will be to reflect the merging of the disciplines through our workshop class offerings. Our program is at the cutting edge of Baccalaureate education in that we have a combined core program for all dance majors. We are excited to introduce your students to what UVU has to offer, as well as provide a fun way for your students to experience the many dance opportunities at UVU.
During the workshop, your students will have the chance to take classes, meet the faculty, see an informal showing featuring many of the performing groups at UVU, and participate in a discussion with Department Chair, Nichole Ortega.
In order to introduce students to the four degrees offered at UVU and accommodate the large numbers that the workshop attracts, your students will be guaranteed a space in their choice of one of the following classes: Modern, Ballet or Ballroom, these classes will occur during each of the morning class sessions. The other class will be randomly assigned; it is our hope that this will allow your students to gain instruction in their area of interest as well as experience in another dance form. We will make sure that no dancer is alone in an assigned class without some members of their school.
The workshop is designed to give your students an experience that will communicate the great excitement we have for our department and our firm conviction that Utah Valley University is going to be the place for your students to continue their dance education and build on the foundation you have provided for them. The faculty at Utah Valley University hopes to see you and your students at our High School Workshop. We believe that you will find the workshop of benefit to your dance students, especially those contemplating a future in dance.
As part of our efforts to address feedback, we will be handling registration online. Teachers may register and pay for the entire group coming from a school or have students register and pay individually. The following procedure will allow us to make appropriate room assignments:
