For security, compliance, and to comply with Regents policy, as of October 31, 2019 all Windows desktop and laptop computers at UVU must be encrypted. All Mac computers must be encrypted by April 15, 2020.
In order to fulfill this requirement, all computers six years or older MUST BE SURPLUSED.
Windows 10 & MacOS 10.13 or later are required for all campus computers.
Any computers running Windows 7 will be non-compliant on January 15, 2020. Windows
10 is the standard operating system for PCs.
If the computer cannot be updated to a compliant operating system, it needs to be
replaced with a newer compliant device. If you feel that your computer should be exempt from this process please fill out
an exception form request. The Security Office will review exception requests.
