This page pulls back the curtain on the strategies that Dx employs in approaching the digital transformation of the university. You can see that UVU's Mission 2030 is the basis for everything we do and the objectives we employ in our work.

To align our efforts with Vision 2030, we created a strategy map with assistance from PM2 Consulting. This diagram shows our strategy on a single page. 

At the top center is an abbreviated version of UVU's mission. Stacked down the map's left side are four perspectives through which we view our strategies: stakeholders (e.g., customers), internal processes, enablers, and financial.  

  • The strategic objectives from the Stakeholders perspective are shared by all divisions and represent the goals of everyone in the UVU community.
  • The strategic objectives of the Internal Processes perspective enable our division to deliver delightful experiences to our stakeholders.
  • The strategic objectives of the Enablers perspective are essential to enable Dx to accomplish the strategic objectives above them.
  • The strategic objectives of the Financial perspective are foundational to all of the other objectives in the strategy map.
  • Our pursuit of the strategic objectives in the Internal Processes and Enablers perspectives will improve other divisions' ability to focus on their own important objectives. 

Within each perspective, we place a small number of strategic objectives. Arrows indicate how one or more strategic objectives help accomplish others. Each strategic objective is given a weight (percentage) indicating the amount of effort and resources we want to commit to them at present. While most aspects of the strategy map remain unchanged for long periods, the weights assigned to each objective are regularly reviewed and adjusted to meet changing needs.

As a non-profit institution of higher education, our main strategy is to help students succeed. We prioritize initiatives that will have the greatest impact on fulfilling this mission. We pursue projects and business process improvements that will help UVU reach its institutional goals as outlined in Vision 2030.
