Biography

BIOGRAPH
I started teaching Japanese course in 2003 as adjunct instructor at UVU. I was promoted to be full-time lecturer starting September 2015. Currently I serve as the Coordinator of Japanese program and make decisions on course offerings and instructor hiring. I teach Japanese language courses from lower division to upper division as well as history and culture courses both in English and in Japanese.

I am a native Japanese from Nagoya, Japan and I received post high school education in the United States. I received a BA in Spanish and a minor in Latin American Studies from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah and a MA in Asian Studies with emphasis on Japanese Language from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. Prior to teaching at UVU, I taught Japanese at the Missionary Training Center at Brigham Young University for four years. During that time I worked at the Section of Development for two years.

I also developed the UVU Japan Study Abroad program in 2017 and since then I have taken students to my hometown, Nagoya, Japan. The program is filled with activities both educational and entertaining. It also has several exchange activities with local university students and typically it provides homestay with Japanese families.
