Students on this educational program to Cuba can experience first-hand a culture, society, and political system that is very different from the one they know. Students will see the blending of African traditions with Spanish traditions, an experiment in a unique, Cuban political system, and a life style that is non-materialistic . It is an exploration into a different society and into the student's own identity.
The program is sponsored by Peace and Justice Studies and the History and Political Science Department with four primary goals.
Program Sites:
Havana, with side-trips to locations of interest outside of Havana (including Santa Clara, Trinidad, and Playa Giron)
*Students are required to enroll in two courses for this study abroad.

Must be 18 years of age at the time of departure
Minimum G.P.A.: 2.0
Physical requirements: Some walking will be required varying from 2-10 miles per day, but students may take taxis or public transportation when they choose.
All UVU study abroad students must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Students may be required to test negative for COVID-19 at their own expense by host countries as a condition for entry.

The program fee covers Salt Lake City to Havana round trip airfare, housing, some meals, course instruction and texts, visa, in-country transportation, international health insurance.

Students should be prepared to pay out-of-pocket for possible COVID tests or quarantine stays if required by the host country for entry or exit.
All students are required to pay a $75 non-refundable application fee.
