Program Details

Intercultural Research & Consulting (COMM 350R) offers an in-depth organizational case study of a community in rural Peru. This two-week program includes a vocational project focused on aiding women artisans in developing a sustainable living. Students participating in this study abroad program can expect to gain practical experience researching and evaluating best practices in community organizing, and come away with a situated understanding of intercultural data collection and consulting.

Anticipated Curriculum

Program Requirements*

Must be 18 years of age at the time of departure

Minimum G.P.A.: 2.0

Physical requirements: Locations may not be wheelchair accessible. Some sites we visit may not have smooth walkways, and walkways may be narrow and steep. There may not be air conditioning available at accommodations, and depending on the weather, participants may be uncomfortable due to heat. There may not be individual refigerators available at places of accomodation.

Each international destination has its own Covid-19 rules and it is the travelers responsibility to find out what is required. UVU will not be responsible for covering the cost of hotel quarantine or Covid-19 testing in foreign destinations. Students may be required to test negative for COVID-19 at their own expense by host countries as a condition for entry.

The program fee covers meals, transportation in Peru (except for taxi to/from airport), excursions, and international insurance.

Students should be prepared to pay out-of-pocket for possible COVID tests or quarantine stays if required by the host country for entry or exit.

All students are required to pay a $75 non-refundable application fee.
