The purpose of this forum is to promote critical and academic inquiry related to ethical
issues of all disciplines. The forum embraces the chief goal of the UVU Center for
the Study of Ethics: “to promote the Jeffersonian ideal of an educated citizenry by
bringing diverse voices together in thoughtful and productive dialogue.” Students
of all majors are invited to submit topics. Topics may address any dimension of ethical
inquiry, both historical and contemporary. Selection to present will be based upon
topic quality and innovation, as well as excellence in reasoning and research.

Elexis Kain is Junior of Philosophy at Utah Valley University. She is deeply interested in environmental issues and their intersections civil and human rights. She is hoping to pursue a graduate education in environmental law.
Trevor Hollister is a first-year student here at UVU in my second semester. He is currently undecided about his major and is trying to see where he fits. He has a deep interest in philosophy, literature, and filmmaking. He wrote and directed multiple short films in high school very focused on different philosophical ideas relating to death, grief, and consciousness.
Jeramy Ashton is a senior studying Philosophy with a dual minor in Ethics and Gender Studies. With an interest in Healthcare and policy, He plans to attend Law School and pursue a future in Healthcare Law. In his spare time, Jeramy enjoys distance running, hiking and reading.
Tyrel Porter is a senior at UVU currently. He is majoring in philosophy with a minor in both chemistry and biology. He has had an interest in medicine since a young age and am preparing to apply for medical school. Merging his love of philosophy with my interest in medicine, he has been drawn to learning more about bioethics and health policy during my time at UVU.
Payden Alder is a philosophy major in my junior year at UVU. He is primarily interested in researching ethics and epistemology. He aspires to go to graduate school studying similar things.
