What Students Learn

This course explores ethical standards for LPPs, and focuses on actual problems that LPPs confront in their practice. Upon successful completion, students will be able to understand unauthorized practice of law, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, client funds, disciplinary process, and professionalism. Successful students of this course are prepared and qualified to sit for the Ethics exam offered by the Utah State Bar.

Program Highlights

  • Prepares students for the LPP Ethics exam offered by the Utah State Bar
  • Length of Program: 4 months, 30-hour course
  • Ideally, students will take this course shortly after completing 1500 hours as a paralegal and shortly before taking the licensing exam

This course is required to become a Licensed Paralegal Practitioner (LPP). The course explores ethical standards through real world examples of problems that LPPs will confront in their practice. Topics include the unauthorized practice of law, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, client funds, disciplinary process, and professionalism.
