The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is a post-service benefit received by participants who complete a term of national service in an approved AmeriCorps program (AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps NCCC, or AmeriCorps State and National) and is considered a need-based award. An AmeriCorps member serving in a full-time term of national service is required to complete the service within 12 months. Upon successful completion of the service, members are eligible to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.

Students work with the Volunteer & Service Learning department to complete the necessary forms to become an AmeriCorps member and perform service to qualify for the education award. When their service is complete, they work with the Volunteer & Service Learning department to complete the paperwork to receive the education award. If the student has not completed the necessary paperwork and authorized Utah Valley University to make a payment, they will not show up on the AmeriCorps website to be certified. The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office will receive notification when a student’s record is ready to be certified.
