Academic Merit Scholarships will be selected from current high school seniors who meet the academic criteria.

The Non-Resident Freshman Academic Merit Scholarships will be selected from current high school seniors who demonstrate that they meet the academic criteria. For the 2021-2022 Academic Year only, UVU will offer the Freshman Non-Resident Waiver to students who have a qualifying GPA, and not a qualifying ACT/SAT score. See details below.

How to Apply
- Complete UVU Admission's Application.
- Provide the Admissions Office with an official copy of your high school transcript
- Submit ACT or SAT Scores
Automatic Considerations
- Students who have completed the Admissions process by February 1st will automatically be considered
- If you meet the Non-Resident Freshman Academic Merit Scholarship criteria, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship

WUE
The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)is for students who are residents of specific western states.

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is for students who are residents of specific western states. Time spent in Utah, while receiving a WUE, does not count towards establishing residency for tuition purposes.

Eligibility
- Must be a legal resident of one of the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wyoming, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam
- Must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA to apply
- Must enroll and earn 15 credit hours each semester
- Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Must be enrolled in an eligible WUE degree program. Non-eligible degree programs: Global Aviation, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, High School Concurrent Enrollment, Integrated Studies, Personal Interest, and English Language Learning (ELL)
- Must upload a copy of a valid driver's license from the state of residency when applying

Border Waiver
This scholarship is available to students who are within 100 highway miles from UVU's Orem Wasatch campuses.

This scholarship is available to students who are within 100 highway miles from UVU’s Orem or Wasatch campuses.
Eligibility
Incoming nonresident Freshman undergraduate who has not previously been enrolled in any other college or university.
The High Schools listed below qualify:
- Evanston High School, Evanston Wyoming
- Kemmerer High School, Kemmerer Wyoming
- Mountain View High School, Mountain View Wyoming
- Lyman High School, Lyman Wyoming
- Must enroll and earn 12 credit hours each semester
- Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher to apply (GPA is unweighted)
- Have an overall ACT score of 22 or higher to qualify

Award
- Waives the non-resident portion of tuition so that students pay only the resident tuition rates.
- The scholarship is renewable for up to eight semesters, as long as GPA and credit hour requirements are met each semester.

Large corporations, small businesses, families, and individuals donate through the Make a Gift program to allow students the chance to qualify for privately funded scholarship awards.

- Need-Based scholarships require the completion of a FAFSA.
- Academic scholarships are scored based on your GPA and credit hours completed at UVU.
- 3.0 GPA Minimum is Required
- Cannot have a previous Bachelor's degree

GEAR UP is a federally-funded program for low-income students to help them succeed in high school and prepare for college.
Americorps Education Award Program
Americorps is a network of national service programs that engage more than 50,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. The program provides an education award for completing a certain number of service hours, and the award can be used to pay for current tuition, future tuition, and past loans.
