The Utah Resident Freshman Academic Merit Scholarships will be selected from current high school seniors who demonstrate that they meet the academic criteria. For the 2021-2022 Academic Year only, UVU will offer certain Academic Merit Scholarships to students who have a qualifying GPA, and not a qualifying ACT/SAT score. See details below.

How to Apply
- Complete UVU Admission's Application.
- Provide the Admissions Office with an official copy of your high school transcript
- Submit ACT or SAT Scores
Automatic Considerations
- Students who have completed the Admissions process by June 1st will automatically be considered
- If you meet the Utah Resident Freshman Academic Merit Scholarship criteria, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship

These scholarships are available to students who were publicly recognized and awarded as a Sterling Scholar their senior year of high school in Utah.

Award Details
- Region Winners:
- This award is for four years or until you receive your Bachelor's degree, whichever is sooner.
- $2000 per semester.
- Region Runners-Up:
- This award is for two years only.
- $1750 per semester.
- High School Winners:
- This award is for one year only.
- $1000 per semester.
Eligibility
- Must be an incoming freshman.
- Must be a Utah Resident.
- Must have a 3.0 High School GPA.
- Must be a US Citizen.

- Provide verification of Sterling Scholar Award.
Renewal Criteria
The following criteria is reviewed at the end of each semester. Failure to maintain this criteria will result in the cancellation of your scholarship opportunity.
- Region Winners:
- Must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
- Must earn 15 credits each semester.
- Region Runners-Up:
- Must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA.
- Must earn 12 credits each semester.
- High School Winners:
- Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Must earn 12 credits each semester.

Large corporations, small businesses, families, and individuals donate through the Make A Gift program to allow students the chance to qualify for privately funded scholarship awards.

- Cannot have a previous Bachelor's degree

UVU will cover the difference between what a first-year or second-year student receives in a Pell Grant and the cost of tuition up to 60 credit hours.

The Greenlight Scholarship will cover the difference between what a first-year or second-year student receives in a Pell Grant and the cost of tuition, up to 60 credit hours.
Priority Deadline: May 15
Eligibility
- Complete the FAFSA and receive a Pell Grant each year.
- Be a Utah resident.
- Enrolled on a full-time basis (at least 12 credits).
- Priority given to first-year and second-year students admitted with a complete financial aid file by May 15.
- Must have attempted fewer than 60 credit hours.
How to Apply
- Be admitted to UVU.
- Complete the FAFSA and be awarded a Pell Grant by May 15 (to receive first priority).
- No scholarship application is required. UVU will award the scholarships automatically.
Award
UVU will cover the difference between what a first-year or second-year student receives
in a Pell Grant and the cost of tuition, up to 60 credit hours. This is only tuition
and does not include general student fees or course fees.
A portion of this funding is a waiver and may not be combined with other waivers.
Example:
UVU tuition per semester: $2,561
Student receives Pell Grant for $1,000
Difference: $1,561
UVU provides a scholarship for $1,561
Tuition balance: $0
UVU Reach
The UVU Reach Scholarship grants students a scholarship award after specific milestones are met.
UVU Reach Scholarship
The UVU Reach Scholarship is available to new students who are willing to work hard and complete specific milestones on their path to completion. Qualifying students are given financial incentives to reach these milestones.
Priority Deadline: July 15
Eligibility
- Complete the FAFSA and Reach Scholarship application by July 15.
- Must have a demonstrated financial need.
- Be a Utah resident.
- Be a new first-year student at UVU.
- Enrolled on a full-time basis (at least 12 credits).
- Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.
- Reach the milestones as listed below under "Award."
How to apply
- Be admitted to UVU.
- Complete the FAFSA by July 15.
- Complete the UVU Reach Scholarship Application by July 15.
Award
Milestone 1: $1,000 at the start of year two, after the student completes math* and
English 2010 within 30 credits AND within one academic year.
Milestone 2: $1,000 at the start of year three, after the student completes an associate
degree within 65 credits AND within two academic years.
Milestone 3: The cost of tuition for the final semester (up to 18 credits) if the
student is eligible to graduate at the conclusion of that semester AND within four
academic years.
A portion of this funding is a waiver and may not be combined with other waivers.
* Math: MAT 1030, 1035, 103H; MATH 1050, 1055, 1060, 1080, 1090, 1100, 1210, 121H
***Concurrent enrollment students: If you begin your first academic year at UVU and
have already completed the requirements for milestone 1, you may receive $1,000 in
your first academic year.
