Resident Transfer Academic Merit Scholarships will be selected from students transferring to UVU who meet the academic criteria.

The Resident Transfer Academic Merit Scholarships will be selected from students transferring to UVU who meet the academic criteria.
Transfer Students will not be considered for Presidential or Exemplary Scholarships.

If you have less than 24 credit hours completed, you need to have your high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores submitted by the March 1st deadline.

2022-2023 Deadline: March 3, 2022

For all Transfer Academic Merit Scholarships:

The unweighted GPA is used.
The GPA is not rounded.
The total of credit hours required must be transfer credit hours, not to be combined with credit hours earned at Utah Valley University.


Transfer Academic Merit for Students Transferring Between 12-23 Transfer Credits:

Students transferring in 12-23 credits will be considered for the Distinguished Academic Merit Scholarship if the following applies:
The student's High School and Transfer GPA is 3.5 or greater.
The ACT score is 24 or greater, or their SAT score is 1180 or greater.

Transfer Academic Merit Criteria for Students Transferring 24 Credits or More:

Resident Transfer Scholarship Grid with gpa and credit hours requirements, for transfer student academic merit consideration, Distinguished eligibility: GPA of 3.5-4.0 and 24-59 credit hours, or GPA of 3.5-3.6 and 24-90 credit hours; Outstanding eligibility: GPA of 3.7-4.0 and 60-90 credit hours

Renewal Information

2 years (4 semesters) or until a bachelor's degree is received, whichever comes first.

Scholarship Amount

Pays $3,500 each year ($1,750 Fall semester and $1,750 Spring semester).

Students will owe the remaining tuition, general student fees (as notated on the Current Tuition Tables), and other fees associated with their coursework.

 

D = Distinguished

Renewal Information

This is a 2 semester scholarship and is not renewable.

Yes

Award Amount

Pays $2,000 ($1,000 Fall semester and $1,000 Spring semester).

Students will owe the remaining tuition, general student fees (as notated on the Current Tuition Tables), and other fees associated with their coursework.

 

How to Apply

  1. Complete UVU Admission's Application.
  2. Provide the Admissions Office with an official copy of your college transcript and/or high school transcript.
  3. Submit ACT or SAT Scores (if applicable).

Automatic Considerations

  • Students who have completed the Admissions process by March 3, 2022 will automatically be considered.
  • If you meet the Utah Resident Transfer Academic Merit Scholarship criteria, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship.

  • GPA requirements vary from 2.5-3.5 determined by the department.

  • Complete the scholarship application

  • Complete all other required information. Some Dean’s Merit scholarships require an essay

  • Cannot have a previous Bachelor's degree

We admit between 150 and 200 students annually based on:

  • Potential for innovation, creativity, and intellectual inquiry
  • High school and / or college GPA
  • ACT or SAT scores
  • Prior academic work
  • A writing samples via the essays
  • Demonstrated commitment to high achievement

Award

Honors Program Tuition Award amounts vary from $500 to $1500 for up to eight semesters.

Honors Program Housing Award pays a portion of the rent (roughly 50%) and students pay the remainder plus utilities for up to two years.
