What is NSLS at UVU?

The NSLS is an organization that helps people discover and achieve their goals. The NSLS offers life-changing lectures from the nation's leading presenters and a community where like-minded, success-oriented individuals come together and help one another succeed. The NSLS also serves as a powerful force of good in the greater community by encouraging and organizing action to better the world.

Communication Activity

Students also participate in a communication skills activity, called DiSC. It helps students discover their own specific communication style and the communication style of others to become a better leader.

What is Leadership Training Day?

Learn Leadership Principles

During the three-hour interactive workshop, students participate in activities to apply leadership principles immediately into their lives.

Leadership Models

Through a video, students are exposed to leading reasearch on student leadership development. The video was created based on the following models:

  • Social Change Model
  • 5 Practices of Exemplary Leadership
  • Servant Leadership Model
  • 7 Habits of Hightly Effective People

What is an Induction Ceremony?

Recognition with Family

An induction ceremony is an event where students are recognized and celebrate the achievement of becoming inducted members with family members and close friends.

Awards Given

Many induction ceremonies are very elaborate with special guests and awards given to the university president, dean of students, faculty and community members.

More Opportunities to Participate

After students are inducted, the Society provides opportunities to continue their development:

  • National Engaged Leader Award - If students attend three more speaker broadcats, three more SNTs, and complete five hours of community services, then they can receive a National Engaged Leader Award.
  • Peer Facilitator - Students can serve as peer facilitators in the SNTs.
  • Executive Board/Committee Member - Students can serve on the Executive Board or serve on the various committees such as the community services, social or fundraising committee.
