The Blaine Carlson and Jean Marie Heywood Tueller Scholarship is established to support qualified international students with significant financial need in their junior and senior years.

Natives of Utah and graduates of Utah state schools, Blaine and Jean Tueller spent their lives traveling on assignment with the United States Government Department of State. With their ten children they lived in Ireland, Austria, Morocco, Venezuela, Panama, the Philippines, and Spain. After twenty-nine years in the Foreign Service, they retired to Utah only to be called to serve as mission presidents for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Athens, Greece which required them to travel in Cyprus, Albania, Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt. During all these years of travel, living far from their Utah roots, they never lost track of their values for education and for service to their family, church, and community.

The Blaine Carlson and Jean Marie Heywood Tueller Scholarship intends to honor their examples of quiet influence in the lives of individuals around the world by selecting international students who show potential for emulating the values of education, family, and community.
