Improving Families' Lives Through Education

participants

"We have learned more while attending the Stronger Families Program than we have in all of the other programs combined.” -Carrie B.

The UVU Stronger Families Project provides UVU students with outstanding, real-world learning experiences while improving the prospects of families in our community. The Stronger Families Project takes place in person at various Utah County sites in partnership with the Alpine School District as well as virtually to any Utah resident.

Students teach an evidenced-based curriculum to families in an 8-week program consisting of age-specific classes (children, teen, and parent) as well as a family class and personalized weekly support and coaching all at no cost to participants. The program is offered in English and Spanish and serves about 75 families each year.

UVU students are given full site leadership and teaching responsibilities with faculty support to increase their professional competence and confidence. When needed, they offer additional social service and clinical referrals to families in critical areas of individual and family functioning.

The Stronger Families Project improves the quality of life for Utah families by establishing healthy communication patterns, teaching parenting skills, and addressing mental health concerns through education and referral. Research on our program demonstrates improved parenting skills, child behavior, and family relationships. Since established in 2008, the program has proven to help families achieve meaningful and successful lives to strengthen their homes and communities.

Your gift to the Stronger Families Project helps cover programming costs, incentives for family attendance and achievement of personal goals, ongoing research and program expansion, and student scholarships. We invite you to add your generous support to increase the program’s effectiveness for students and families. Even a modest donation translates into significant improvement in the quality of life for our friends and neighbors.
