Program Details

Students will immerse themselves in the Spanish culture for three weeks to experience and research how strong communities from different parts of the globe—such as Arabic, Roman, and Jewish—have blended to create a new society, new traditions, and a prosperous country. They will experience how these cultures have survived from generation to generation and combined with modern influences to create a new economy and revolutionize global markets. Learn of interwoven traditions—deepened in the core of Spanish culture—that have supported and made advances in technology, economy, and global markets never thought of before.

It is the perfect setting for students to appreciate the depth of the Spanish language—its influence in the world and why it is one of the three most-spoken languages in the world. More that 7% of the global population speaks Spanish. Students will have the opportunity to experience the Spanish academic environment by attending classes in the popular Universidad de Malaga. We have day trips to selected sites where students can learn about the development and progress of the Spanish culture and economy for centuries. Consider Jewish heritage, trading roots from the times of Charlemagne, and other stunning findings of the history of the traffic of exchange. The United States has a rapidly-growing community of almost 60 million Spanish-speaking people. It is imperative that students prepare for the future in front of them.
