The First-Generation Student Success Center hosts plenty of opportunities for students to become active and invested during their time at Utah Valley University. Check out the opportunities below, and follow us on Instagram (@iamfirstatUVU) and Facebook (I am First at UVU) for all the information and events that are coming your way!
Every year in early November, the First-Generation Student Success Center observes National First-Gen Celebration Day. However, given all of our amazing students, we often turn the whole week into a week of celebration. Events range from game nights to faculty panels, so make sure to follow along with all the fun when we post the events planned for this year in the early part of the fall semester.
Learning Lunches offer first-generation students an opportunity to share a free meal with a staff or faculty member, ask questions about majors and careers, get to know professors, and meet other students. Sign-ups will be posted early in the fall and spring semesters.
The "IamFirst" LEAD Program is a one-year leadership development program for new first-generation freshmen at UVU. ("First-generation" is defined as neither parent/guardian has a U.S. bachelor's degree.)
College isn't about being smart, it's about doing smart things. Like asking for help.
Interested in meeting other students? Want to help create special events for first-gen students? Looking for ways to be more involved on campus? Or maybe looking for something else but not sure what? Let us know. We would LOVE to have you be part of our "IamFirst" Community.
