"IamFirst" Leadership Program

The "IamFirst" LEAD Program is a one-year leadership development program for new first-generation freshmen at UVU. ("First-generation" is defined as neither parent/guardian has a U.S. bachelor's degree.)

This program develops students in three key ways:

  1. Helping you recognize and hone your talents and skills (using the Gallup StrengthsFinder Assessment)
  2. Providing you with effective skills and strategies that are vital to succeeding in college
  3. Training you to become a peer mentor and student leader at UVU

Students enroll in a 3-credit course each semester (fall and spring), in which they will build a community with other first-generation LEAD students, meet regularly with an assigned peer mentor, and network with a staff or faculty mentor. Scholarships may be available for students who apply and are admitted to the program.
