Learning Lunches offer first-generation students an opportunity to

  • Share a FREE meal with a staff or faculty member
  • Ask questions about majors and careers
  • Get to know professors
  • Meet other students

We encourage students who have further questions to continue the conversation with the staff/faculty member after the lunch.

Who can attend a Learning Lunch?

Learning Lunches are exclusively for first-generation students (neither parent/guardian holds a U.S. bachelor’s degree).

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring along any questions you'd like to ask your Learning Lunch Host.

Where are the lunches held?

Unless otherwise stated, Learning Lunches will take place in the Sorensen Center. Your Learning Lunch host will contact you 1-2 days before the Lunch with more information.

What happens at the Learning Lunch?

You, your host, and a few other students will sit down to have lunch together. Your host will want to get to know each of you and answer any questions you may have about school and careers.

Can I request a lunch with someone not listed here?

Unfortunately, one-to-one Learning Lunches are not being scheduled during Fall 2020. Please check back in Spring or reach out to Ezra Mintz-Fernandez with any questions.

What if I need to cancel?

You can contact either the staff/faculty member directly, or the First-Gen Program Manager, Ezra Mintz-Fernandez.
