International Travel Registration

UVU faculty, staff, & students who travel abroad on bona-fide university business are required to register their travel plans with the Office for Global Engagement. To ensure the safety of individuals participating in university-authorized international travel, the University establishes travel authorization, insurance, security, and training requirements. Travelers must comply with the requirements established in all University policies, including policies 142, 251, & 252.

FACULTY / STAFF TRAVEL

Faculty/Staff traveling without students

  1. Submit a travel request in Concur (accessible through myuvu.edu)
  2. Sign & submit the Assumption of Risk & Release
  3. Enroll in international health insurance

    After your supervisor approves your travel request in Concur, you will receive an email from internationaltravel@uvu.edu which will guide you through the insurance process.

  4. Review the export control resource materials.

 

Faculty/Staff traveling with at least one student (non study abroad)

  1. Submit a group travel request in Concur (accessible through myuvu.edu)
  2. Submit the International Group Travel Registration form
  3. Complete the online safety training
  4. Sign & submit the Assumption of Risk & Release
  5. Enroll the group in international health insurance

    After your supervisor approves your travel request in Concur, you will receive an email from internationaltravel@uvu.edu which will guide you through the insurance enrollment process.

  6. Review the export control resource materials*
  7. Register travel plans through the U.S. Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)  

STUDENT TRAVEL

Non-study abroad
UVU students planning to travel abroad

  1. Submit the STAR form (Student Travel Abroad Registration) 
  2. Submit the travel registration fee
  3. Complete online safety training
  4. Enroll in international insurance

    After your registration form is processed, you will receive an email from internationaltravel@uvu.edu which will guide you through the insurance enrollment process.

  5. Sign & submit the Assumption of Risk & Release

NON-UVU PARTICIPANT TRAVEL

Approved accompanying adults & minors

  1. Submit insurance spreadsheet & enroll in international insurance
  2. Sign & submit the Assumption of Risk & Release or the Assumption of Risk & Release (if under 18) if minors are traveling.

 

 

UVU employees & students planning travel to regions under US Department of State Travel Warning or CDC Warning Level 3, must submit an Exemption Request for Travel form to the Office for Global Engagement.
 
Travelers planning to bring sophisticated or specialized equipment overseas should complete the Customs & Border Protection Certificate of Registration.
