Desktop Support Technician, Entrata

How has your degree from UVU helped you in your current position?

"I started working at Entrata while I was a student at UVU. Since graduation, they’ve brought me on as a full time, salaried employee!"

"I’ve used many of the skills I learned at UVU in automating tasks and improving efficiency in my work. For example, I’ve implemented PowerShell scripts we learned about in the Advanced Windows Admin class, and also worked quite a bit on MacBooks and other Apple products."

Industry view of UVU graduates

"I haven’t heard much in the industry because I’ve only worked at one company since graduating. I personally think UVU’s IT program is great, and always boast about it when I get the chance."

Advice for new students

"Find the subject that you truly love. Classes shouldn’t be boring. If you’re going down a career path solely for the income potential, you might find you aren’t passionate about that topic and you won’t ever be satisfied."

"Take time to do some soul-searching and then you’ll love what you do. College is difficult but absolutely worth the experience."
