Wolverine Wi-Fi

A wireless network for students, faculty, and staff. This includes an open network, designed for easy access when security is not a concern and for devices that do not support WPA encryption, and a secure network, built with the security and privacy of your information in mind.

Authentication and security scans are performed by a FortiNAC Agent. To connect, follow the instructions below.


Secure Wi-Fi

A more secure encrypted wireless network for students, faculty, and staff. To connect to Wolverine-Secure:

  • Connect to Wolverine-WiFi according to the instructions below.
  • Follow the link below to the SecureW2 site.
  • Check that your OS is shown, then click "JoinNow".
  • Install the application as prompted, then log in using your UVID and password.

Conference and Business Guests

An open wireless network for university conference and business guests.

To connect, follow the instructions for "Conference and Business Guests" when you neet with the network authentication page.


Campus Visitors

An open wireless network for visitors to the University. This network provides basic internet access ports (ports 80 & 443) that is filtered to prevent access to pornographic and social networking sites, in accordance with the Child Internet Protection Act.

To connect, follow the instructions for "Visitors Who Need Temporary Internat Access" on the network authentication page.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

  1. Connect to Wolverine-WiFi.
    • Click on the WiFi icon in the System Tray.
    • Click on Wolverine-WiFi.
    • Check the box that says Connect automatically.
    • Click on Connect.
  2. Open a browser, and you should be redirected to a UVU authentication page. (If you are not redirected automatically, try navigating to www.uvu.edu in your browser.)
    • Enter your UVID and Password.
    • Download FortiNAC Persistent Agent and run it.
    • After setup is finished, a login window will pop up. Enter your UVID and Password.
  3. After is scans your computer, it will connect you to the internet.
  1. Click on the Airport, and select Wolverine-WiFi.
  2. Open a browser, and you should be redirected to a UVU authentication page. (If you are not redirected automatically, try navigating to www.uvu.edu in your browser.)
    • Enter UVID and Password.
    • A download for FortiNAC Persistent Agent should start after log in.
    • Right click on the FortiNACPersistentAgent.pkg and click on Open.
    • Enter your UVID and Password.
    • The installation for FortiNAC Persistent Agent should start after login.
  3. Login to the FortiNAC Agent with your UVID and Password, and after it scans your computer it will connect you to the internet.
  1. Find your Wireless Connection settings.
    • On Android - Settings > Wi-Fi Settings > Select Wolverine-WiFi *
    • On iOS - Settings > Wi-Fi > Select Wolverine-WiFi *
  2. Open up your web browser, and it will redirect you to the Wireless Registration page.
    • Enter your UVID and Password.
  3. After the registration has completed, restart your web browser, and you should be connected.

* Note: some mobile devices will automatically disconnect the Wi-Fi if it cannot detect the internet immediately. You may need to reconnect several times or change OS settings to keep the connection through registration.

Anti-Virus

Microsoft Security Essentials

* Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Defender, or BitDefender Anti-Virus are recommended by the University.

BitDefender Anti-Virus software has been purchased for university computers, and we are no longer licensed for McAfee on university owned computers. Please contact your area technician if you need BitDefender installed.

Windows Defender comes pre-installed on Windows 8 and later.

FortiNAC Agent

You will be prompted to download and install the FortiNAC Agent on your laptop the first time you connect to Wolverine-WiFi.

You can manually download the latest FortiNAC agents from the links below.

The FortiNAC Agent will update automatically as new versions become available.
