The reliability, truthfulness, and correctness of the information are tricky to determine sometimes. I want to look at the information in the article or book and compare it to other information I find. Believe it or not, I am a bit of an expert on the topic by the time I finish my research!

Ask yourself these questions:
  • Where does the information come from?
  • Is the information supported by evidence?
  • Has the information been reviewed or refereed?
  • Can you verify any of the information in other sources or from personal knowledge?
  • Does the language or tone seem unbiased and free of emotion?
  • Are there spelling, grammar or typographical errors?
