TAKE THE TEST – Provide evidence of potential for success by submitting an official GMAT or GRE test score.

Send official scores to Utah Valley University, Admissions Office

Minimum score required – GMAT of 500 or higher (perfect score is 800); GRE scores converted to determine GMAT equivalent.

Test preparation resources and registration information available at GMAT/GRE Prep.


* Consideration to waive the graduate test requirement may be given to students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher and interview with the MBA program director. Interviews scheduled after the student has met with Admissions Advisor and application fee has been paid. Ideal candidates for consideration will have completed business or quantitative courses.

Interviews will not be conducted prior to the application fee being paid and after having met with an MBA Admissions Adviser.

FINAL APPROVAL OF A GRADUATE TEST WAIVER IS AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF THE MBA GRADUATE ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the above requirements, international students who will require a student visa (F-1) may apply for the Full-time MBA program ONLY. This application includes requirements and fees in addition to those required for resident applications. All submitted documents must be original, except for a copy of the passport.

  1. English Proficiency

    Submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores. Required of applicants for whom English is a second language AND who earned a bachelor’s degree outside of the United States.

  2. Minimum Score

    TOEFL score of 80 or above (or) an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher. Official results should be sent to etranscriptr@uvu.edu.

    NOTE: To help prepare for the TOEFL, students may find useful information in the links below.

  3. Affidavit of Support

    Upload a signed Affidavit of Support that has been completed by the person accepting financial responsibility. This includes showing financial resources that will cover tuition, fees, and living expenses. If the student will be self-sponsoring, they must provide a letter from their bank showing the required financial resource amount on deposit under the student's name. ALL FINANCIAL SUPPORT DOCUMENTS MUST BE IN ENGLISH AND SHOW AMOUNTS IN U.S. FUNDS.

  4. Bank Statement

    Provide document as requested on Affidavit of Support from student or sponsor.

  5. Copy of Passport

    Attach a copy of the passport for the student and any dependents who will also need an I-20.

  6. Interview

    An interview with members of the MBA Graduate Committee may be required as part of the application review process.

Visa Submission Deadlines for International Students

To ensure that visa paperwork is processed in enough time for students to begin the program, all required visa documents must be submitted prior to the following dates, as by the dates below a student will need to receive an admissions decision. Submitting these documents prior to these dates will provide our admissions committee the time necessary to review the application. Students who submit final documentation on these dates may not be processed in time and may need to consider beginning a program the following year.

GMAT/GRE Waiver Request Letter

 

In order to apply for a GMAT/GRE Waiver, you must meet the following conditions:

  1. 3.3 Cumulative GPA
  2. Must have a B+ or higher grade* for each of the following prerequisite classes or their equivalents:

 

Financial Accounting

Managerial Accounting

Excel Proficiency

Principles of Finance

Business Statistics 

* The grade must have been earned within the last 5 years. There is an opportunity to refresh your grades on these prerequisites through MyEducator. It is an online learning platform that allows you to take these prerequisite classes for $70 each at your own pace. We require for the GMAT waiver that you pass each class with a 90% or higher.  

 

Please provide the following information in an email to Silvia Lobendahn at lobendsi@uvu.edu.

  1. Attach transcripts to your email. Make sure you include transcripts for each higher education institution you have attended. If you have attended UVU at some point, please indicate your UVU ID number so that we can access your transcript. 
  2. Please list each prerequisite and class grade in the first paragraph of your request email.
  3. State your case in a short paragraph outlining why you should receive the waiver.
  4. If you think your work experience demonstrates your analytical and quantitative capacity, please attach an updated resume to the email as well and reference your experience in the body of your email.
