21-22

  • Two students employed as part-time Student and Community Outreach Coordinators. 
  • Five students placed with faculty/staff mentors in the African Diaspora Mentorship Program. 
  • Three African Diaspora Initiative scholarships awarded to students. 
  • Twenty students attended September welcome back event. 
  • Weekly community socials hosted with Black Student Union for with an average of 15 members.
  • Food vouchers given to over thirty students. 
  • Multiple job/scholarship letters of recommendations provided along with job/scholarship search assistance. 
  • Over  50 students attended Black History Month roller skating event. 
  • Referrals made for two Wolverines who will be receiving scholarships from the Salt Lake City branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
  • Eleven student leaders attended ADI-sponsored Black Student Union two-day overnight leadership retreat.

20-21

  • Five student leaders participated in winter leadership retreat. 
  • Referrals made for five Wolverines who received scholarship from the Salt Lake City branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
  • Four students participated in state-wide Expect the Great Conference. 
  • One hundred guests, including students, faculty/staff, and alumni attended virtual Black History Month keynote address feature UVU alumnus Akwasi Frimpong.  
  • The first African Diaspora Initiative Scholarship awarded.
  • Women's History Month panel featuring four UVU Black women faculty members. 
  • Five graduating seniors and five alumni attended graduation networking event. 
  • Two students employed as part-time Student and Community Outreach Coordinators. 
  • Nine students attended Juneteenth celebration for in overnight trip to Salt Lake City and Ogden.
