Through involvement in multicultural clubs, panel discussions, workshops, and other UVU activities, students feel a sense of campus "ownership" and continue to enroll. We endeavor to create an atmosphere of warmth and a "home away from home" to create a sense of belonging and acceptance. Involvement also provides an avenue to make friends, find role models, and become acquainted with other students on campus.
Multicultural Student Services offers half tuition scholarships to new/transfer and continuing students who meet GPA expectations, and are Utah Residents. The selection criteria includes a focus on financial need, academic goals, extra-curricular participation, and leadership responsibilities. The Multicultural Student Services also offers academic tracking and retention initiatives, in-state and out-of-state recruiting, numerous academic and cultural programs, leadership opportunities and various programs for students, designed to increase retention and graduation success.
Academic advising, tutoring, counseling, and performance evaluations are offered. Additionally, all staff members advise students of scholarships available for ethnic students. We encourage our students to attend career building workshops, as well as other workshops that will enhance their resume, internship experience, and overall academic goals.
