The National Student Exchange (NSE) provides opportunities for you, as an undergraduate, to study for up to one calendar year at another NSE member university. With over 200 to choose from, you will be able to customize a campus with the right combination of courses, facilities, and environment to meet your personal interest and academic needs.

Spending time at another campus will allow you to grow academically and personally. You will develop a greater appreciation for the different regions, cultures, and people. As you consider the possibilities, notice that NSE extends beyond the borders of the United States to include U.S. territories as well as some Canadian provinces.

Is NSE for you?

"Through this process, I actually was able to go on a National Student Exchange to the University of Toledo in Ohio. Upon first hearing that, most people aren’t very impressed with where I wanted to go. Of course, when I first learned about NSE my instant thought was Hawaii, Virgin Islands, New York. However, as I dug into the program deeper, I found that although those places would be fun to see and live, they weren’t necessarily in line with what I wanted to do to further my career. Therefore, I chose to attend the University of Toledo, it had the classes and campus I was looking for, as well as it gave me a chance to work for an amusement park while I was on my exchange. As one of my career goals is to open my own amusement park, it was definitely beneficial to work for one of the more successful ones (Cedar Point) while furthering my studies at the University. Overall, it was definitely a rewarding experience and I wouldn’t have changed anything about it. I learned a lot, about myself, about what I want to do, and how I could get to where I wanted to be."
