What are Routes to Recognition?

Routes to Recognitions are opportunities for participants to gain fellowship with the Higher Education Academy. There are two types of Routes to Recognition.

Direct Submission:

This is done when a participant makes a direct application to the Higher Education Academy by following the guidance for applying for a particular category of fellowship. Funding and support is provided to UVU faculty who wish to apply through the direct submission process. All categories of fellowship can be gained through the Direct Submission route:

    1. Associate Fellow of the HEA (AFHEA)
    2. Fellow of the HEA (FHEA)
    3. Senior Fellow of the HEA (SFHEA)
    4. Principal Fellow of the HEA (PFHEA)

Accredited programs:

This type of Route to Recognition involves participants engaging in a particular set of activities and submitting a portfolio for internal assessment at UVU. There are two categories of fellowship that can be gained through the Accredited Programs route:

    1. Associate Fellow of the HEA (AFHEA)
    2. Fellow of the HEA (FHEA)

What does ‘accredited programs’ mean?

Accredited programs offer routes through the Teaching Excellence Program that align to the Professional Standards Framework (PSF). These routes requires participants to carry out specific activities and to submit a portfolio for assessment by internal and external assessors.

What is the PSF?

The Professional Standards Framework (PSF) is an internally recognized model that represents the activities, knowledge, and values that should be held by anyone who teaches or supports learning in higher education. The PSF is described by three dimensions of practice as shown below.
