As an art educator for over 25 years, I believe in the power of art to heal, build knowledge, and strengthen our communities. Teaching has taken me to many contexts; such as museums, community centers, cultural sites, home school groups, social service centers, public schools, and universities across the states of Kansas, Arizona, Texas, New York, Nebraska, and Utah. I serve on several art related boards and present on a regular basis through the Utah Art Education Association, Statewide Arts Partnership of Utah, National Art Education Association, United States Society for Education through the Arts, and the National Association of Multicultural Education. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor of Art Education at Utah Valley University where we apply inclusive and creative approaches to art education. I value being a part of the Utah art education community. I was honored and humbled to receive the 2012-2013 UAEA Higher Education Award. My recent scholarship includes a book chapter in a 2016 NAEA publication titled Culturally sensitive art education in a global world: A handbook for teachers.
