Luke Dean is a tenured, Associate Professor of Personal Financial Planning.  He earned his PhD in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University and has undergraduate and masters degrees from Brigham Young University.

Luke has served as the Program Director for over a decade at William Paterson University in New Jersey and Utah Valley University in Utah.  He has helped to build two of the largest financial planning degree programs in the U.S., and both programs were recognized as 2 of the top 10 standout programs in the U.S. by the Financial Planning magazine.

Luke was named by the Investment News to the inaugural 40 under 40 list of the most influential financial planning professionals in the U.S. under the age of 40 (1 of only 3 professors in the U.S. to be named to the list).  

Luke has also been selected by the CFP(r) Board to serve on its Workforce Development Advisory Group to help increase the development, retention, and recruitment of the next gen of financial planning professionals with an emphasis on finding more young, diverse, female, military background, or allied professionals into the profession.

Luke's research interests include materialism and marital outcomes, and how compensation relates to potential conflicts of interest in the principal-agent relationship.  

Luke has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Investment News, MSNBC, Bloomberg, and a variety of other publications, and has been a speaker at the TD Ameritrade Institutional LINC, Market Counsel Summit, Bob Veres Insiders Forum, and other professional conferences.

Luke serves on the Board of Directors for BELIEVE International, a 501(c)3 non-profit that helps Filipino youth obtain education and leadership/values training to empower them to help break the cycle of poverty in their family and community.
