Barry K. Hallsted, Ph.D.

Barry is a member of the Construction Management faculty and past Chair of the Construction Technologies Department.  Barry enjoys associating with students in the classroom and through the leadership and service learning activities in the Construction Management program. Barry enjoys his association with CM faculty and the array of skills and experience they bring to the classroom. Barry especially loves seeing students succeed in their goals and aspirations in life as well as in the construction industry.

Barry was responsible for overseeing the development of the AAS and BS degrees in Construction Management lanched fall, 2008.

Previously, Barry was self employed as a general contractor and real estate broker for over 20 years in Arizona.  Barry has been a life-long learner and especially enjoys all aspects related to building science, sustainability and leadership. 

Dr. Hallsted is passionate about continuing his education through formal academic settings as well as through professional certifications. His education includes undergraduate diplomas in Construction Estimating and Drafting and a BS in Youth Leadership. His graduate studies include an MBA and Ph.D. in Business Administration and a post graduate diploma in Project Management.

 Barry and his wife Julie have seven children and have lived in Cedar Hills (Utah) since 2004.  He enjoys everything outdoors including gardening, motorcycles, outings with his family, hunting and fishing. 

He has been active in Scouting (BSA) on several levels and has been awarded the Silver Beaver award.
